Vision

Vision is a dominant senses giving us information about the world. It is often referred to as the 'coordinating sense' and helps us understand information as a whole rather than as fragmented information from hearing, touch, and smell.

Children and young people with vision impairment range from those have limited access to visual information to those who have very reduced vision or no vision at all.

Vision impairment can impact on all areas of development but children and young people have a huge capacity to learn. At an early age children may need additional help to make sense of the world around them and when they are older support to access to the curriculum, activities and become independent.
